Nice Global. These photos show why I don't care for Holey Rock in any of my tanks. It is a totally artificial looking rock. Kind of like dead white coral in a Marine tank of the late 60's. Not all of the rocks are randomly stacked. The second photo in your first post shows some layers of rock split and going back into the photo.

Generally i think people tend to use limstone etc. Because of its buffering properties.

That is true, but if you use a carbonate based substrate you will do the same thing. I use Seachem Lake Salts and Buffer.
