I had great success with tricolor lotus in planted tanks over the years. Recently I shut down an old 60L shrimp tank, plants had over grown and the lotus had thrived.
Once the lotus was moved to the 4x4x1 all the leaves started to grow pups on the center of each leaf. The leaves are removed from stems (furthest to base) when I see the first signs of deterioration to the leaf, they are cut to trim the excess leaf and the root ball is planted into a small pot of ADA Amazonia aqua soil.
