Sexing neocaridina (cherry) shrimp can be quite easy with their carapace opacity. One that takes a while of watching and studying is the Crystal shrimp, Caridina cantonensis. I was lucky enough to learn from shrimp breeders in Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Hong Kong and around Australia. A great way to learn is from studying Crystal shrimp in all stages; juveniles, adults, berried females, extra large adults etc The females have distinctly shorter shaped antennas, the female’s abdomen also has a rounded shape. It looks like it’s designed to block vision of the eggs laying under and this makes checking whose berried (carrying eggs) difficult. It’s very interesting to learn, anyone keeping Crystal shrimp who would like to learn more please post up your questions Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
