I looked at this thread and wondered why you would want to talk about the Texas Cichlid in its own forum. Then I think to myself that you are lumping all of North, Central, and South America into one. I don't think that way. You've got three regions to our view. I'll have to ask some of my Colombian and Peruvian fellow employees how they view our regions.

I added the American cichlid section to be vague as we can add sub sections as discussion takes off. What sub sections would you like Jerry?

I'd go for Two: South America and Central America. North America only has one cichlid, and it is found in Mexico too, so two subsections are enough.
But, I brought a Columbian co-worker up to the world map and ran my hand over the whole landmass from Canada to Chile and asked him what he called that. He immediately responded, America. We don't think that way in the USA. We only think of us as America. Just saying how we think.

Understandable, just from the rest of the world when dealing with cichlids itโs usually easier to refer to them as either African or American. I believe cichlasoma was the group taxology.
I will add in the two sections in replacement for this section.

I think as we slowly get more members and people posting. Under the heading of "Americans" We could then have sub-categories. But at this stage there isnt enough context to warrent doing it.
